Hitches like the Curt Adjustable RV Hitch # 13703 that you were looking at are designed to attach to either I-beam, C-channel or box RV frames, so bolting them to any other structure is not recommended for safety reasons. The # 13703, fits frames that are between 22 and 72 inches wide outside to outside.

When using a 2-inch hitch adapter that clamps to your 4-inch square RV bumper on a travel trailer you will not want to exceed the limits of your bumper. The bumper towing and tongue capacities may be indicated on the bumper itself, but if not you could check your trailers owner manual or contact the manufacturer of your travel trailer.

The designs of the bike racks themselves is what would limit their use on the rear of a towed trailer. A hitch accessory installed in a receiver on the rear of a towed trailer will be subjected to much more rattling and bouncing than it would had it been installed on a passenger vehicle or truck. This is caused by the suspension and the longer rear overhang typically found on trailers.

The bolt-on trailer hitch receivers for use on the bumpers of RVs and trailers, such as the Ultra-Fab # UF35-946402, require that the bumper be continuously welded across its entire length and that it be a 4 x 4-inch size. Due to their size and weight, 5th Wheel Campers have a lot of movement in the rear suspension. With this amount of movement combined with the weight of 5 bikes, a 5 bike rack could not hold up on the back of a 5th Wheel.

We do have an option for you. The Curt Trailer Hitch Ball mount with 2 inch Receiver, part # D210, would work great with a 2 bike carrier provided there is clearance in between the vehicle and trailer and your tongue weight capacities are not compromised. The tongue capacity is the lowest rating of the vehicle hitch or ballmount. As long as you stay within the lowest rating and have room this will work.

There are no RV-rated bike racks that offer a 5-bike capacity. The most bikes an RV-rated bike rack can hold is 4, as with the hitch-mount racks like the Swagman Original # S64400 and their Trailhead # S63381. We have the Yakima StraightShot Hitch Extension, # Y69VR and the RockyMounts Hitch Extender, # RKY10008, among others. The problem however is that most manufacturers state these type products are not to be used with accessories on RV hitches. The amount of sway the back of many RV's receive can cause a lot of torque to be placed on the hitch.
